About our shoes and bags
Swedish Hasbeens shoes are handmade and individual. That means that no pair is exactly alike. Our shoes are made in the same hand-manufactured way as in the 70s. They are produced with natural grained leather. The soles are made of wood, which is a hard but fragile material. The rubber soles are glued onto the wood. Due to these facts you should, before purchase, be aware of the following:
The nail in the ankle strap can tear if the buckle isn’t opened when taking on or off the shoe. The leather may have insect bites or tears. The leather may vary in color and thickness. The leather is hard in the beginning but will soften and stretch with wear. The natural colored leather is totally untreated and very sensitive to moisture and dirt. (It can be treated with a small amount of natural olive oil to make it more resistant and for a darker tone.) The natural colored leather WILL darken with time. The colored leather (for example black) can rub off on items. The wood may chip if you should knock into something. The wood may vary in color and there may be twigs in the wood. The rubber soles can wear down and even come loose from the wood after frequent use. The rubber sole can easily be replaced at your local shoe repair shop. The color on the rubber sole on the painted wooden sole will disappear almost immediately upon use. The color on the wooden sole will wear off with time. The shoes will not last long if you use them in dirt and moisture since they are made of natural materials.

| | Care instructions
With the right care your Hasbeens can last you a lifetime. Make sure your kids can inherit them by following these tips:
For shoes – If you open the buckle when taking on or off the shoe the nail will not break and the ankle leather strap will keep the shape. – Water makes the leather very stretchable so don't use the shoes if they are wet since they might stretch a lot and lose shape very fast. – If you want the natural colored leather to be more resistant to moisture and dirt you can treat the leather carefully with a small amount of olive oil or similar protection. This will also give the leather a darker tone, which looks great. – For that great looking dark tone put your natural colored leather shoes out in the sunlight. – The wooden soles (only unpainted) can also be treated with a small amount of olive oil or similar since it makes them more resistant to moisture and dirt and also gives them the right looks. – Be careful with the wooden sole because should you knock into something the wood may chip. – Be careful using your shoes in water since it may loosen the glue between the rubber and the wood and the sole might come off. – The shoes will last longer if you re-sole them regularly. The rubber sole can easily be replaced at your local shoe repair shop. Don't use the shoes without a rubber sole since the wood will wear down very quickly. – The color on the wooden sole will wear off with time. If you want to paint them yourself use water-based color. – If you don't use the shoes in dirt and moisture they will last longer since it’s natural materials. – The shoes will last longer if you don't use them everyday, all of the time. – If the shoes get dirty you can clean them carefully with a little bit of sandpaper and treat the wood carefully with a small amount of olive oil and they will look great again.
For bags and belts – If you want the natural colored leather to be more resistant to moisture and dirt you can treat the leather carefully with a small amount of olive oil or similar protection. This will also give the leather a darker tone, which looks great. – For that great looking dark tone put your natural colored leather bag or belt out in the sunlight. – If the zipper ever breaks then it can easily be replaced at a shoe repair or a tailor.
