Ideas like sustainability, creativity and quality are sacrificed for short-term profitability and fear of failure in the stock market. Swedish Hasbeens aims to counter this destructive industry trend with their focus on quality and sustainable production and materials, like they once were made.

Swedish Hasbeens looks back at what was best in decades past and adapts the coolest fashion trends of that time to our time and needs. Therefore the new collection combines natural materials with the freedom of the 60 s, the style and consciousness of the 70 s and the humor of the 80 s, In the Summer and Spring Collection 2011 they are introducing models like the Slingbacks, the high ankle straps and the classic old Ballet Flats. These models feature new design inspired by the classy way that old models used to enhance the feminine shape of women s feet.

The colors are fun 80 s colors that will be strong during the summer of 2011 like bubble gum pink, baby blue, white and neon pink or classic blue, red and green but also more toned down colors like vintage pink, military green and grey.

We see this shift to quality and sustainability as a revolution , says Emy, founder and Creative Designer at Swedish Hasbeens. Revolutions bring change and we all feel the time has come to throw away the plastic chrome-tanned shoes with too much bling-bling and quality that last a few months. People across the world are demanding quality, natural materials that age great and that our grandkids can wear.

Swedish Hasbeens shoes will always be sustainable. The materials will be natural and ecological. The people who make the shoes will always have good work places. All these demands make the shoes better for the people who wear them, better for the people who make them and for nature where they came from and will return to.

Machines can never replace humans , says Cilla Winga rd Neuman, founder of Swedish Hasbeens. Our shoes will always be made by hand in the old artisan way that is friendly to nature and people. That makes them better than any machine could do.

The SS11 collection is Swedish Hasbeens fourth Summer and Spring collection and the company have had a great success making wooden shoes in old retro models. The company is now introducing the Ballet flats, Penny Lofers and other models made on leather soles and will continue to make fun old hasbeen-shoes in fun colors and with natural materials like wood, leather and natural rubber.

For more information: http://www.swedishhasbeens.com/ss11/

Swedish Hasbeens Better Shoes For A Better World

In 2006 Emy Blixt went to the old clog factory in her childhood village in southern of Sweden and bought their old stock of 300 clogs from the 70 s. Her friends went crazy for more so she started to design new fashion clogs. Swedish Hasbeens were started in 2007 when Emy Blixt and Cecilia Winga rd realized that modern shoes lack the colors, the nature-friendliness and quality that the old shoes had. The challenge was to produce the shoes in ecological materials with new fashion designs using the old craftsmanship methods from the 70 s. The old factories had to learn new designs and a new way to make ecological and high-quality shoes. Since then Swedish Hasbeens has moved on to other products like boots, bags, belts and kids shoes all based on retro-inspired fashion with high demands for ecological material and sustainable production. However the desire to create fun, vibrant and creative products is what drives the people behind the brand.

Swedish Hasbeens products are now sold in more than 20 countries with US being the largest one. Some of the world s most influential stores carry their products like American Rag in LA, Bird in NY, Merci in Paris and Antonia in Milano. Swedish Hasbeens has received a huge amount of editorial coverage in media like ELLE, Vogue, Nylon, Lucky Magazine and several very influential people have started to wear them. Sarah Jessica Parker wore them on the set of Sex and the City 2 and other who have been seen wearing the shoes are Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kylie Minogue, Robyn, Nina Persson from the Cardigans and of course Dolly Parton. Maybe it was just time again to show that you do care Better Shoes For A Better World.

Emy Blixt
Founder & Creative Director
Phone: +46-707-35 30 00
Mail: emy@swedishhasbeens.com
