Swedish Hasbeens, one of Sweden's fastest growing fashion companies, known all over the world for their high-heeled retro wooden shoes now release their new wider collection.The shoes are based on different kind of great natural materials like vegetable tanned leather soles, natural rubber soles and real cork.
Wilma grew up paralyzed from polio as the 20th of 22 children in a poor family. In the 1960 Rome Olympic Games she kicked ass by setting amazing world records and winning three gold medals, thus showing a new generation that anything is possible regardless of race, gender or background.
"We must never forget what sport has meant for the equality of women and men and how it still makes us stronger in body and mind", says Emy, designer and creative director at Swedish Hasbeens.
 During the 1920s doctors said that girls couldn't handle the stress of competition. In the 1930s, doctors warned that sports might harm a woman's reproductive system. In the 1940s, players in the
women baseball league had to attend charm school. However, some strong women defied the kitchens and charm schools and joined men as equals in outdoor activities like tennis, swimming and later in the 1950s, in bowling alleys to play together.
"The challenge for the SS12 Collection has been to be innovative while still staying true to the concept and the result is a collection inspired by Hasbeens like Wilma and the active life style of the 1940-50s, which made fashion sportier and more comfortable", says Emy Blixt.
During the 40's and 50's classic sport shoes such as the Saddle Shoe, the Driving Shoe, the Beach Sandal and the Bowling Boot came into fashion and were worn by men and women alike.
 The classic Old Tennis Shoe for men and women is made with vegetable tanned leather and
a natural leather sole.The Bowling Shoe comes in mixed soft 1950s pastels like baby blue,
bubblegum pink and white, black or nature with a soft and natural rubber sole. The Strong
Lady Sandal has a lime tree wooden sole and a wide duck toe and with it's simple design it
is the perfect combination of a Swedish traditional style and a 1940s dancing shoe. For that great 1940s day-at- the- beach feeling we are now introducing the Cork Wedge.
Swedish Hasbeens are also proud to introduce new sporty leather belts and bags inspired by vintage bowling bags in classic colors like red, dark blue, white, nature and 1950s pastels like bubble gum pink, baby blue and mint.
