Penny Loafer's journey started i Norway during the 1930's as a leisure slipper for fishermen. They were then taken up by visiting Americans and championed by the American magazine Esquire. During the 1950's they were named "Penny Loafers" when prep school students started inserting a penny in the slit. They re-emerged again in the 80´s when Micheal Jackson moonwalked in them.
This model with tassels is hand-made in vegetable tanned leather and with a natural leather sole. It has a comfortable 2 inches (5 cm) high heel and will look great with a pair of short trousers and white socks.
The natural grain leather The natural grain leather will soften and stretch with wear, and will fit just perfectly with time. The leather will just look better the more you wear it. However please try to use your shoes in dry weather, since natural leather really doesn't like moisture. If fully soaked they will stretch a lot! Let them dry naturally. This nature color also darkens over time, or when you rub them with olive oil as well as when being exposed to direct sunshine.
The leather sole Please protect the leather sole from dirt and moisture with a leather cream (we're sure your local shoemaker / heel bar can recommend a great one). To protect the leather front sole from wearing out and to make it more resistant to moisture, it's also a great idea to have them put on a rubber sole (of course a bio-degradable one).
Size 35-41.

Good to Know
 |
The leather in Swedish Hasbeens' shoes is prepared using natural vegetable oils and is chromium free. Chromium is bad for the environment and its people. It's used today in about 95% of leather shoes to make the production cheap, quick and to make the leather feel softer. |
